Watermelon chia agua fresca

I love taking traditional recipes and making healthier versions, but only if it improves the original. This recipe is a huge upgrade in taste, texture, and health benefits, and it's super easy and fast too.

Chia seeds compose almost all the critical nutrients necessary for optimal growth and development: protein, omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. These little guys are wellness warriors!

Watermelon chia aqua fresca


2 teaspoons of chia seeds

2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice

2 cups watermelon

1 pinch of Himalayan pink sea salt (optional)


Add chia seeds to lime juice, and let sit for 5-10 minutes until chia seeds plump up and suspend in juice. Add watermelon and salt to blender, and blend. Pulse in chia seed mixture and serve.

Chia seeds beautifully absorb any flavor. I love soaking them in lemon, orange, coconut, or any other flavor to add depth to any new creation.
